Phoenix Chapter Events

Monthly Business Meetings
Meetings are held in the conference room at Jackson Jet Center on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm, except in July. Social time and speakers are often scheduled prior to the meeting. For more information, be sure to check the private Facebook page (members only) or the calendar for more information. Additionally, our December meeting is a holiday party and the June meeting is a luncheon. Locations vary, so be sure to check the calendar.

Treats for the Towers
This event occurs every December and June in conjunction with our holiday party and luncheon. This activity is our way of expressing appreciation to our local ATC facilities. Chapter members bring treats (cookies, fruit, snack mix, etc.) to our June luncheon and December holiday party packaged in 10-12 separate bags. They are sorted into larger bags that are subsequently delivered by our members to ATC facilities in the Phoenix valley.

Spot Landing Contest
Our chapter organizes and hosts a fly-in, camp out and landing contest to bring pilots together for a day of fun, competition and prizes with the purpose of honing piloting skills and honing landing proficiency. This fundraising contest is open to all pilots. Keep an eye on the calendar for more information.

Fly-In/Out Activities
Our chapter plans and organizes flying trips throughout the year. Specific details are publicized in our newsletter and coordinated through our private Facebook group. Some of these events include the Cactus Fly-In and Buckeye/AOPA Air Fare.
Flying Companion Seminar
This seminar is geared toward the non-flyer (or “right-seater”) and is a half day basic ground school. Participants will learn about aircraft systems, radio, communication, aerodynamics, and emergency procedures from Ninety-Nines members. We promote safety through education, and this event is an informative and fun way for non-pilots to learn more about aviation.

Girl Scout Aviation Camp
This week, long overnight, Camp introduces girls to aviation, including fixed wing, rotorcraft, a.s. drones, aircraft control, and airport operations. The Phoenix chapter has worked with Girl Scouts to put on this camp for more than 20 years. Chapter members teaching assist all week, and the camp culminates with flights for the girls with CFI. Volunteers can help for a day or all week long!

Girls Can Fly Days
This event is open to local Girl Scouts. We offer a day filled with aviation themed games, simulators to fly, information about aviation careers, and an airport tour. The University of North Dakota flight program and Civil Air Patrol generously donate their time and equipment for this experience.

Airmarking
Airmarking has been the noble ambition of Ninety-Nines since the early part of the 20th century. Ninety-Nines carry on the tradition and fulfill the need for air markings by volunteering their time to paint the runway names, compass rose symbols, and other identifications on airports.
